The key to flipping CA-22, the most remote of our Sweep Six districts, is paid, on-the-ground community organizing. Local organizing mobilizes and transforms communities while building political power. That’s why our visionary local partner, Central Valley Matters, funds this essential work.
You can help! Sign up for the Central Valley Matters fundraiser on Thursday, September 5th, from 5:30–6:30, featuring a conversation with Dolores Huerta and Julián Castro.
As the energy unleashed by the Harris-Walz ticket continues to grow, people are flocking to the presidential campaign, setting new records. That’s fantastic. But in order to give future President Harris the Congressional majority she needs, we also need local grassroots efforts in every battleground district. That’s where the California Grassroots Alliance comes in: We strategically target dollars and volunteers into the Sweep Six targets.
Why paid community organizing? Because in CA-22, with average incomes far below other California districts, organizers can only afford to do the work when they are paid. The Alliance is proud of the volunteer canvassers driving in from blue districts both north and south. But the long journey from either the Bay Area or greater LA means it’s a weekend trip. Local organizers speak the languages, know the local issues, and build long-term relationships, so let’s help fund their work!
At Thursday’s event, you’ll learn how Bay Area activists formed Central Valley Matters to help CA-22 constituents build political power for the long term by supporting local grassroots groups, including those run by renowned activist Dolores Huerta. Join Dolores and Julián Castro, head of the Latino Community Foundation, as they talk about their work to bring the political power of Latinos to bear in this election. This will be a meeting—and a donation—you won’t want to miss.
DONATIONS UPDATE: Did you know that Alliance donors have already helped us raise more than $58,000, allowing us to distribute funds to on-the-ground groups in our six districts, including the Dolores Huerta Action Fund? You can help that number grow by donating through any one of our six district funds here.
And if you have a fundraiser coming up for a grassroots group in a Sweep Six district, let us know so we can promote your event in an upcoming email!
The road to the House majority runs through California, and YOU hold the power!
