The 47th district includes Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Irvine, and covers the western half of Orange County's coastline. This is the “must-hold” open seat, in addition to five purple-district flips, that comprise California’s part in winning back the House majority in 2024.
About Our Candidate: Dave Min
State Senator Dave Min is a first-generation Korean-American and product of California public schools who understands the issues Southern California families are facing. During the financial crisis, Min fought to hold Wall Street accountable as an enforcement attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In 2020, Min defeated incumbent John Moorlach to represent State Senate District 37 which overlaps 80% of CA-47. His work in the Senate has included legislation enshrining abortion rights in the California Constitution, expanding protections for domestic violence survivors, banning gun sales on state property, and leading the fight to terminate offshore drilling—a prominent sight from the beaches in his district—in order to address the causes of our climate crisis.
