The 13th district was the second closest House race in the entire country in 2022, when Adam Gray lost by only 564 votes to MAGA Republican John Duarte. Turnout was low in both the 2022 general and 2024 primary elections, particularly amongst younger and Latino voters. Voter registration rates are below the statewide average in every county in this majority-Latino district.
About Our Candidate: Adam Gray
As their former California Assemblymember, Adam Gray is well known to engaged voters in the district. Born and raised in Merced and unapologetically centrist, Adam fought for Central Valley interests against the state water grab, increased funding for public safety, wrote the bill to suspend the gas tax, and paved the way for rural health care expansion at UC Merced while in the Assembly. His strong record is why members of the law enforcement community and Republicans alike support Adam and his fight to keep our communities safe.
About the District
Encompassing 6,361 square miles (50% larger than Los Angeles County), the district includes all of Madera County and parts of San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, and Fresno counties. Major cities include Modesto, Merced, Turlock and Madera, while smaller communities include Lathrop, Patterson, Newman and Gustine. All of them together hold the key to putting Adam Gray over the top.
